As more details are released by Clemens’ legal team a clearer picture of the plot to frame superstar pitcher Roger Clemens begins to emerge.

Timeline of the plot against Roger Clemens
1993-1996
  • During this four year period Roger Clemens goes 40-39 and has what remain to this day the only 2 losing seasons of his career (1993, 1996).
  • Clemens also sets career worsts for strikeouts in a full season, and walks given up in a full season during these years.
  • Dan Duquette famously states that Clemens is in the “twilight of his career”, and lets him leave via free agency after the 1996 season.
1997
  • Clemens is signed by the Toronto Blue Jays and returns to Cy Young form.
1998
  • Clemens begins the season 9-6 with a 3.55 ERA.
  • Brian McNamee joins the Blue Jays training staff, and begins working with Clemens.
  • Roger’s twin brother Regis, consumed with resentment at seeing Clemens rejuvenation moves to Toronto and begins posing as Roger Clemens - he approaches Jose Canseco about steroids and begins getting injections of the steroid Winstrol from Brian McNamee.
  • Through hard work, superhuman determination and sheer willpower Clemens goes 11-0 with a 1.71 ERA for the rest of the season and wins a second consecutive Cy Young.
1999
  • Clemens is traded to the New York Yankees where he goes 14-10 with a 4.60 ERA.
  • Brian McNamee continues to work as a strength and conditioning coach for the Toronto Blue Jays.
  • Regis - seeing his brother’s abilities apparently fading again - decides to temporarily abandon his scheme, and ceases posing as Roger and also ceases getting injections of performance enhancing drugs.
2000
  • The Yankees hire Brian McNamee - at Roger Clemens insistence - to be a strength and conditioning coach.
  • McNamee begins working both for the Yankees and being paid personally by Roger Clemens to help him train during the off season, and spring training.
  • Around the middle of the season Regis moves to New York and - once again posing as Roger Clemens - makes it clear to McNamee that he wishes to return to taking steroids.
  • McNamee injects Clemens’ twin with Sustanon or Deca-Durabolin acquired from Kirk Radomski.
  • McNamee suggests Regis try HGH - Regis agrees.
2001
  • Regis approaches McNamee about more steroid injections during August.
2003
  • In his boldest move yet, Clemens’ evil twin Regis manages to fool Roger’s wife Debbie Clemens, and over a period of four days convinces her to try HGH - ostensibly to help her prepare for a swimsuit photo shoot with Sports Illustrated.
2004
  • Regis confronts Roger and Debbie Clemens at the couple’s Texas home and reveals the details of his sinister scheme.
