TechnoratiThe race for superstar in waiting Steve Stamkos is heating up with four teams the clear front-runners at getting the coveted first overall pick in this years draft.
The NHL draft works on a lottery system that heavily favors the team with the worst overall record.
With a 4-3 overtime win against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night the hard-luck Leafs fell forward into third last in the NHL.
The overtime winner was scored by potential trade target Darcy Tucker. It was the fifth goal in five games for Tucker and his twelfth goal in 52 games this season.
Said one fan outside the ACC after the game “What the {expletive}! NOW he starts scoring?! {Expletive} {expletive} {expletive}! I hope they trade his {expletive} before he {expletive} does any more {expletive} damage to our chances of getting Stamkos!”
Reaction on the message boards and fan forums was mixed after the victory with many calling for the Leafs to trade Sundin, McCabe, Kaberle, Tucker, Toskala, Blake, Antropov, Kubina, Raycroft, Gill, Belak, Kilger and the entire MLSE front office for draft picks, while others felt the victory was a sign that the a Stanley Cup berth was now within reach.

Pissed? I would be too if I was a fan of Darcy Tucker, you should definitely complain about it...

I have a vested interest in seeing the Leafs get Stamkos.
Actually I’m hoping they trade Sundin to Anaheim for Edmonton’s first round pick (and other prospects/picks) and the Leafs manage to draft Stamkos and Doughty.
…and get Bobby Ryan.
…and then Tavares.
