Ottawa hints that Redden should be careful not to let the door hit him in the ass on the way out. Redden responds “But I’m not leaving”

Redden and Emery

“Where am I going? Wait, why is Emery right behind me?”

Like a greeting card that says “We aren’t planning on paying you $6 million a year”, the Ottawa Senators have approached Wade Redden asking if he would waive the no-trade clause in his contract.

Apparently oblivious to the hint Ottawa is dropping here, Redden has refused stating that he ‘wants to bring the cup to Ottawa’

“It was a conversation about our team, about Wade’s play within the team and I made a comment to him,” Murray said, “I said there is a team with an outside interest in your services, do you want to talk about it.”

Hmmm.

‘Our team has stunk on ice lately and you’re part of the problem. Some other team might want our overpaid ass though - interested?’

No… it probably didn’t go like that.

Although you have to figure Ottawa hasn’t been oblivious to how well $6+ million a year defencemen have worked out for teams like Toronto, Boston and Edmonton.

The Sens should definitely hold on to Redden this year.

But they should let him go in the summer if he want like $6 a year.
